    ABOUT THE ATTORNEY

    Matthew Cargal graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1986 with a Bachelors degree in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1992 and became a licensed attorney that same year. He is an attorney in good standing with the California State Bar, has no record of discipline and is licensed to practice in both state and Federal courts. Mr. Cargal has devoted his entire career to defending people accused of crimes. By choice he has never worked for a prosecuting agency. He has worked for both government agencies and private attorneys as a either a general criminal defense attorney or focusing exclusively on DUI defense. Mr. Cargal has been the owner of and lead attorney for the Law Offices of Matthew Cargal since 1997. He has litigated hundreds of felony and misdemeanor criminal cases with a focus on DUI cases and has successfully represented clients at all stages of court proceedings, including arraignment, bail hearings, preliminary hearings, probation violations, trial and sentencing hearings. Mr. Cargal has also represented hundreds of people before the Department of Motor Vehicles on a variety of license suspension issues and has a high success rate. Matthew Cargal’s practice is 100 percent criminal defense with about 85 % dedicated to DUI and DMV defense. Matthew Cargal is a member of the following associations and organizations:
